Sex Therapy for Adults

Sexuality is part of being human, but talking about sex isn't always easy.

Sex therapy offers a confidential, nonjudgmental space to explore concerns related to sexuality, intimacy, desire, sexual functioning, relationships, and the ways past experiences may influence your relationship with yourself and others.

Space Within Counseling provides sex therapy for adults in Greenville, South Carolina and throughout the state through telehealth.

Sex is often connected to something bigger

Sexual concerns rarely exist in isolation. Our experiences with sexuality can be influenced by relationships, attachment, body image, trauma, identity, stress, health, cultural expectations, and religious or spiritual beliefs.

Sex therapy can provide space to explore these connections and develop a deeper understanding of what you're experiencing.

You may be considering sex therapy if you’re experiencing…

  • Differences in sexual desire

  • Difficulty communicating about sex

  • Challenges with intimacy or vulnerability

  • Shame or anxiety around sexuality

  • Changes in sexual desire or functioning

  • Difficulty becoming or staying connected during sexual experiences

  • Pain or discomfort related to sexual activity

  • Sexual concerns following trauma

  • Changes in sexuality following religious or spiritual experiences

My approach to sex therapy

I approach sex therapy with curiosity, compassion, and without assumptions about what sexuality or intimacy “should” look like.

Therapy is collaborative. Together we'll explore what feels authentic and meaningful to you while considering your values, relationships, experiences, and goals.

I am a Sex Therapy Associate (STA) through the American Board of Christian Sex Therapist (ABCST). I have received my training in sex therapy through the Institute for Sexual Wholeness (ISW). Additionally, Space Within Counseling is proudly affiliated with the Center for Sexual and Relational Health and I regularly consult with the highly trained, skilled, and experienced clinicians who are a part of this group.

When your needs extend beyond the scope of my practice, I’m happy to connect you with trusted professionals who may offer additional support, including physicians, physical therapists, massage and bodywork practitioners, and other counselors with specialized experience.

Trauma & Sexuality

Past experiences can affect how we experience intimacy, trust, our bodies, boundaries, and sexuality.

Therapy can offer a space to explore these experiences at a pace that feels manageable, while developing greater awareness of your needs, boundaries, and sense of safety.

Religious & Spiritual Experiences

Messages about sexuality from religious or spiritual communities can remain with us long after our beliefs or circumstances change.

Therapy can provide space to examine those messages, understand their impact, and explore your own values and relationship with sexuality.

Religion, spirituality, and sexuality can sometimes be deeply connected. If you're navigating shame, conflicting messages about sexuality, or the effects of past religious experiences, learn more about religious/spiritual harm here.

Sexuality & Intimacy

Intimacy is an important part of emotional and relational well-being, yet concerns around sex, desire, communication, or connection can sometimes feel difficult to navigate alone.

Therapy can provide a supportive, confidential space to explore these concerns without judgment and develop greater understanding of yourself and your relationships.

Individual vs. Couples

Sex therapy doesn't require you to be in a relationship. Individual sex therapy can provide space to explore your own sexuality, sexual concerns, experiences, beliefs, desires, boundaries, and relationship patterns.
